GSE Spain delivers Europe’s most state-of-the-art logistics centre

GSE Spain handed over to Fedefarma, a pharmaceutical cooperative, the completed construction of its new logistics centre in Barcelona.
The construction of this new robotised logistics centre was an architectural challenge, precisely because of its automation, which makes it one of the largest in Spain in its sector.
With a total surface area of 19,400 m2, the warehouse can serve more than 130,000 order lines daily. This means increasing Fedefarma’s current production capacity by almost 40%, thanks to the robotisation of more than 30,000 references.
In order to achieve these large-scale figures, GSE’s technical team has built a prefabricated concrete structure, with various mezzanines which, apart from the offices, make up the different work levels. The building has been designed to be as open-plan as possible. It also has a basement that makes up 20% of the total building, an unusual feature in logistics, which serves as a dispatch area for 36 vans. It also has nine docks at ground level for the reception of products.
The excellence of the project carried out by GSE Spain has been crowned with the BREEAM VERY GOOD international seal of approval. This certification means that the design, materials and manufacturing processes are designed to have the smallest possible carbon footprint.
